Thurmond Lake is the largest Corps of Engineers lake east of the Mississippi River. It encompasses 1,200 miles of shoreline, 70,000 acres of water and 80,000 acres of land. The Corps operates 13 campgrounds with a total of 554 campsites. The lake offers excellent striper and largemouth bass fishing and its large wildlife management program provides excellent hunting and wildlife observation opportunities. Thurmond Lake is one of the most visited Corps of Engineers lakes in the nation.
