Public Campgrounds in Texas

The attached file is an 84-page guide to federal, state, and local government managed campgrounds in Texas. The guide lists public campgrounds alphabetically by city or town (commercial campgrounds are not included). For information about commercial campgrounds, see the Texas Campgrounds web site.

Fort Custer Recreation Area

Fort Custer Recreation Area is comprised of more than 3,000 acres of land near Augusta, Michigan. The recreation area offers fishing, swimming, hunting, hiking, camping, and more. The modern campground here has nearly 220 sites with electricity.

Otter River State Forest

Otter River State Forest is a popular camping and day-use area in north-central Massachusetts near Baldwinville. The forest's developed facilities surround Beaman Pond and include an 85-site campground, a swimming beach, ball field, and picnic areas. Yurt camping is also available.

Pickwick Landing State Park

Pickwick Landing State Park is in southern Tennessee on the TVA's Pickwick Reservoir. Visitors to the park will find an inn and restaurant, rental cabins, and a 48-site campground.

Amnicon Falls State Park

Amnicon Falls State Park is in northern Wisconsin along US 2 about ten miles east of Superior. The park features a series of waterfalls and rapids along the Amnicon River. Visitors can picnic, camp, walk in the woods, or learn about the Douglas Fault, the geological formation that created the falls. Among the attractions in the park is the 55-foot long covered bridge that spans the river at Lower Falls.

The park's campground has 36 sites. It's a quiet, mostly rustic campground. There are no electric hookups, showers, or dump station. The camping fee ranges from $14 to $25 for non-residents; slightly less for residents.
