Snake Creek Recreation Area
Snake Creek Recreation Area is situated along the shore of Lake Francis Case about 14 miles west of Platte, South Dakota. The Lewis & Clark expedition traveled through this area, where they watched for "burning bluffs" and for their missing crew member George Shannon. The recreation area has a total of 115 campsites in two campgrounds. Most sites have electric hookups; camping fee is $10 to $14 per night.

From US-14, turn west on 7th St; go 3 blocks; park is on right. Campground has 12 sites with 20 amp, 6 sites with 30 amp. Shade trees. Water and sewer dump at entrance to park.

Description: City park in Spearfish, South Dakota. From I-90 Exit 12, go west 8 blocks to the Canyon Street stoplight, turn left and go 9 blocks south on Canyon Street past the Spearfish City Park and across the bridge.
Campground: Open all year, 207 sites, 57 full hookup sites, 30/50-amp service, $17 to $26 per night, some tent-only sites, reservations accepted (605-642-1340), drinking water, restrooms with flush toilets, showers, dump station, Wi-Fi, picnic tables, fire pits/grills.
Comments: Sites with full hookups available May through September, depending on weather.
