Fort Custer Recreation Area
Fort Custer Recreation Area is comprised of more than 3,000 acres of land near Augusta, Michigan. The recreation area offers fishing, swimming, hunting, hiking, camping, and more. The modern campground here has nearly 220 sites with electricity.
River Road Scenic Byway
This scenic byway is in northeast Michigan about 90 miles north of Saginaw. The 22-mile route parallels the historic Riviere Aux Sable (River of Sand). The AuSable River once provided a westward link for Native Americans and French fur traders. Several platforms on the high banks above the river provide panoramic views of the river and surrounding forest.
The River Road Scenic Byway crosses Huron National Forest. Three campgrounds are located along the byway. Monument and Rollways campgrounds are operated by the national forest. Picnic tables, grills, drinking water, and vault toilets are provided. Old Orchard Park is a large campground owned by Consumer's Energy Company but managed by Oscoda Township. This 500-site campground provides electrical hookups and showers along with basic amenities.
Lake Billings Campground
Lake Billings Campground in Manton, Michigan is a municipal park with a total of 85 sites; 48 with water and electric and 37 with full hookups. The campground is open mid-April to mid-October and has a dump station, laundry facilities, and hot showers. The park is two blocks east of MI 42 on E Main St and then one block north on Park St.
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore
Managed by the National Park Service, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore features sandstone cliffs, beaches, sand dunes, waterfalls, lakes, and forests. Located in northern Michigan, the Lakeshore hugs the Lake Superior shoreline for more than 40 miles. There are three public campgrounds within the park. The largest is Twelvemile Beach Campground, which has 36 sites. All of the campgrounds are rustic and do not have electric, water, or sewage hookups. Typically there is no cell phone reception, either. The camping fee is about $12 per night (holders of America The Beautiful passes receive half off).
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
The National Park Service manages Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, which preserves a 35 mile stretch of Lake Michigan's eastern shoreline as well as the North and South Manitou Islands. Primitive camping is available in the D.H. Day Campground.

The park has 174 sites with full hookups, picnic tables at each site, restrooms with showers, playground, horseshoe pits, 37-foot RV limit. Camping fee varies from $18 to $26.50 depending on time of year and site location.

Description: The Au Gres City Park is one of Michigan's most popular family campgrounds. The park features a total of 109 campsites available for daily, weekly or monthly rental with choices of water, sewer, and electric. Within the park itself is the Lions Club Community Building which is available for daily rental and may be used by civic groups throughout Michigan for a meeting place at the park. The park features a family picnic and day use area with barbeque grills, playground equipment and restroom facilities. Also available within the park is a gazebo and a fish cleaning station. There is also a small boat launch which provides great access to Saginaw Bay and Lake Huron (via Au Gres River) for superb boating and fishing. Camping fee ranges from $21 to $26 per night.
